The 2012-2013 proposed budget

The 2012-2013 proposed budget submitted by Superintendent Carol Comeau has eliminated a number of ACE positions that are currently in the 2011-2012 budget.

FACT: This is a proposed budget. It is subject to change by the school board. The budget also is subject to change based on funding increases or decreases. The school board will discuss the budget and vote on the final version.

First Reading:                    Wednesday, February 1, 5:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.  ASD Board Room

Second Reading:              Thursday, February 9, 5:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.      ASD Board Room

 

Please feel free to attend or testify at these meetings. Meetings will be televised on Channel 14.

 

FACT: Anchorage Council of Education will ensure that the collective bargaining agreement with the Anchorage School District will be followed. Relevant contract sections include: 513, 514, 515, 516, and 517.

 

FACT: No one can say with authority which staff members will ultimately be receiving written notice of being laid off on or before the contractual deadline of May 20^th. If you have already been told by your supervisor that you will be laid off, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

 

These are challenging budget times for ASD. ACE and other APEA locals will continue our efforts to advocate for increased education funding. I encourage all ACE members to be actively involved by contacting your elected officials.
